Dubai 5-Day Itinerary: A Practical Day-by-Day Guide

Dubai 5-Day Itinerary

Dubai combines futuristic architecture, traditional neighbourhoods, beaches, desert landscapes, shopping and cultural attractions. This Dubai 5-Day Itinerary assumes five full sightseeing days and is designed for first-time visitors who want to experience different sides of the city without spending every day in traffic.

The plan covers Downtown Dubai, Old Dubai, Jumeirah, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR, a desert safari and the Dubai Frame. Prices are shown in UAE dirhams (AED) and should be confirmed before booking because attraction fees and schedules can change.

Important 2026 planning notes

This itinerary does not include the Museum of the Future because its official website currently lists the main museum as temporarily closed. The Palm Monorail operator’s website also currently shows service as temporarily suspended for maintenance. Check both attractions again before travelling, as their status may change.

Day 1: Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain

Start your trip in Downtown Dubai, where several major attractions are close together. If you arrive in the morning, check in, leave your luggage and begin after breakfast. If your flight arrives later, use this as an afternoon and evening plan.

Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa

Spend the first part of the day exploring Dubai Mall. You do not need to visit every shop, but the mall is useful for lunch, air conditioning and access to Burj Khalifa.

Book a timed ticket for At the Top, Burj Khalifa in advance. The standard experience generally includes Levels 124 and 125, with panoramic views over Downtown, the coastline and the desert. Allow extra time to find the entrance inside the mall and arrive before the time printed on your ticket.

The official ticket page was listing the standard Level 124 and 125 experience at AED 189 when checked on 15 September 2026. This is a reference price rather than a guaranteed fixed rate. Time slots, special packages and operating hours may change.

Evening around Burj Lake

After visiting Burj Khalifa, walk around Burj Lake and the Downtown promenade. Watch a scheduled Dubai Fountain performance if one is running during your visit, then choose dinner in Dubai Mall, Souk Al Bahar or the surrounding Downtown area.

Downtown is a good place to keep the evening simple because you can walk between the mall, the lake and nearby restaurants without arranging another long journey.

Transport: Take the Dubai Metro Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station, then follow the pedestrian signs towards Dubai Mall.

Day 2: Old Dubai, Dubai Creek and Jumeirah

Day two shows a different side of the city. Begin in Old Dubai before the afternoon heat becomes uncomfortable, then cross the creek and continue towards Jumeirah.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood

Arrive at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood in the morning. The district features narrow lanes, traditional wind-tower architecture, courtyards, galleries and small cultural venues.

Dubai Culture currently lists the neighbourhood’s working hours as 7:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although individual museums and businesses may follow separate schedules.

Spend around one to two hours walking through the area. This is also a useful place to learn how Dubai looked before the modern skyline developed.

Dubai Creek and an abra ride

Walk towards Dubai Creek and take a traditional abra from the Bur Dubai side to Deira. The current tourism information lists the traditional creek crossing at AED 1, with services operating from around 6:00 am and departing frequently.

On the Deira side, explore the Gold Souk and Spice Souk. You can browse without buying, but if you shop, compare prices and clarify the final cost before agreeing to a purchase.

Stop for lunch in Deira or Bur Dubai. Local cafés and casual restaurants usually offer a more affordable meal than restaurants around the major landmark districts.

Jumeirah Mosque

Continue to Jumeirah Mosque in the afternoon. The public guided visits are currently held at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm from Saturday to Thursday, with the mosque closed to public visits on Fridays.

The current admission price is AED 55 per person. Advance booking is not currently required, but registration opens 30 minutes before the session. Wear modest clothing and follow the venue’s current dress guidance.

If Friday falls on this day of your trip, move the mosque visit to Day 5 or replace it with additional time at the beach.

Jumeirah Beach

Finish the day at a public beach in Jumeirah or Umm Suqeim. Visit in the late afternoon or around sunset when the temperature is more comfortable. Bring water, sunscreen and a light layer for indoor spaces, where air conditioning can be strong.

Transport: The Old Dubai section is easiest by Metro and walking. Use a taxi for the journey between Deira and Jumeirah because it saves time compared with multiple bus connections.

Day 3: Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and JBR

This day focuses on Dubai’s modern coastal developments. Start on Palm Jumeirah and continue towards Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence in the evening.

The View at The Palm

Visit The View at The Palm, located inside The Palm Tower and connected to Nakheel Mall. The observation deck provides views over Palm Jumeirah, the Arabian Gulf and Dubai’s skyline.

The current official ticket page lists opening hours of 10:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Book a time slot before visiting, especially if you want a sunset view. Ticket prices vary depending on the date, time and package selected.

The Palm Monorail is not currently a reliable option because the operator’s website lists service as temporarily suspended. Use a taxi, private transfer or a combination of Dubai Metro, tram and taxi instead. Check the monorail status again shortly before your trip.

Nakheel Mall or Palm West Beach

After The View, have lunch at Nakheel Mall or choose a beach stop on Palm Jumeirah. Keep this part flexible because beach access, sun-lounger packages and restaurant prices vary by venue.

If your group wants a full waterpark day at Atlantis Aquaventure, make that the main activity and remove The View or the Marina walk. Trying to complete a waterpark and several sightseeing stops on the same day will make the itinerary rushed.

Dubai Marina and JBR

In the late afternoon, travel to Dubai Marina. Walk beside the marina waterway, then continue to JBR for restaurants, shops and the beachfront promenade.

The official JBR website describes its promenade as approximately 1.7 kilometres long. It is a pleasant area for an evening walk, but the distance can feel longer in humid weather, so use the tram or a short taxi ride if needed.

You can end the evening with dinner at JBR or book a Marina sightseeing cruise. Reserve a cruise separately if it is an important part of your plans because departure times and inclusions differ between operators.

Transport: Use the Red Line towards the Marina area, then connect with the Dubai Tram or a taxi. Check the RTA journey planner on the day because traffic and station access can affect travel time.

Day 4: Desert safari and a slower morning

A desert safari works best as an afternoon-to-evening activity. Leave the morning free so you can recover from the previous sightseeing days, enjoy breakfast, use your hotel facilities or visit a nearby café.

Choosing a desert safari

Book a licensed operator that clearly states:

  • Hotel pickup and return arrangements
  • Approximate departure and return times
  • Dune-driving details
  • Whether dinner is included
  • Camp activities and entertainment
  • Sandboarding or camel-riding arrangements
  • Optional quad-bike or buggy charges
  • Cancellation and weather policies

Choose an afternoon departure if you want to combine dune driving, sunset views and an evening camp experience. Do not schedule another ticketed attraction immediately after the safari because return times can change with traffic and group transfers.

Wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes. A light jacket can be useful after sunset, particularly during the cooler months. Carry sunglasses, sunscreen and a phone power bank.

If you have back or neck problems, are pregnant or dislike rough driving, ask the operator about a gentler option before booking.

Day 5: Dubai Frame, Zabeel Park and a flexible evening

Use your final day for a shorter attraction, shopping and anything you missed earlier in the trip.

Dubai Frame

Visit Dubai Frame in the morning, when outdoor walking is generally more comfortable and queues may be shorter. Dubai Frame is located at Zabeel Park Gate 4 and can be reached through Al Jafiliya Metro Station.

The official visitor information currently lists:

  • Opening hours: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
  • Adults: AED 50
  • Children aged 3 to 12: AED 20
  • Children under 3: free

The attraction includes Old Dubai, Present Dubai and Future Dubai galleries, followed by views from the upper frame. Allow around one to two hours, depending on queues and how long you spend taking photographs.

Afternoon options

After Dubai Frame, choose one relaxed activity rather than adding several distant attractions. You could:

  • Return to Downtown for shopping and lunch
  • Spend time at a public beach
  • Buy souvenirs in Deira
  • Visit a mall during the hottest part of the day
  • Revisit a neighbourhood you enjoyed earlier

Global Village seasonal option

If your trip takes place during the seasonal operating period, spend the evening at Global Village. The official website currently lists Season 31 from 14 October 2026 to May 2027.

Current park hours are listed as:

  • Monday to Thursday: 4:00 pm to midnight
  • Friday to Sunday: 4:00 pm to 1:00 am

Global Village includes international pavilions, food stalls, entertainment and attractions. It is a large outdoor venue, so wear comfortable shoes. During the season, public bus routes include 102, 103, 104 and 106 from selected Metro stations. Confirm the latest route and timetable before travelling.

If Global Village is closed during your dates, keep the final evening flexible for dinner, shopping or a return to Dubai Fountain.

How to get around Dubai during five days

Dubai is manageable without renting a car, but most visitors will find that a combination of Metro, tram and taxis is more practical than relying on one transport mode.

Metro, tram and Nol card

The RTA’s Nol system is used across Dubai Metro, tram and buses. Dubai is divided into seven fare zones, and the final price depends on the number of zones crossed.

Current Silver-card fares listed by the RTA are:

Journey Fare
Within one zone AED 3
Two adjacent zones AED 5
More than two zones AED 7.50

Metro station hours currently listed by the RTA are:

  • Monday to Thursday: 5:00 am to midnight
  • Friday: 5:00 am to 1:00 am the following day
  • Saturday: 5:00 am to midnight
  • Sunday: 8:00 am to midnight

Public holidays, Ramadan and special events may change these times. Use the RTA website or journey planner for the latest information.

When to use taxis

Taxis are useful for:

  • Deira to Jumeirah
  • Dubai Metro stations to Palm Jumeirah attractions
  • Palm Jumeirah to Dubai Marina
  • Hotel transfers to desert safari pickup points
  • Late-night journeys after the Metro closes

Traffic can be heavy around Downtown, Dubai Marina and Sheikh Zayed Road, so allow extra time for fixed bookings.

Where to stay in Dubai for five days

Your accommodation area affects how much time you spend travelling.

Downtown Dubai

Downtown is convenient for Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain. It suits travellers who want modern attractions, restaurants and easy Red Line access.

Bur Dubai or Deira

These areas are practical for Old Dubai, Dubai Creek, Al Fahidi and the souks. They also provide access to a wider range of accommodation and casual dining choices.

Dubai Marina or JBR

Choose Marina or JBR if beach access, evening walks and coastal restaurants are more important than being close to Old Dubai.

For this itinerary, Downtown, Business Bay or Bur Dubai provide a reasonable central base. Compare the hotel’s distance from a Metro station, airport transfer cost and access to taxis before booking.

Best time to follow this Dubai itinerary

Dubai is warm throughout the year, but the outdoor parts of this plan are more comfortable from approximately November to March. These months are also popular for travel, so hotels and attractions may be busier.

During summer:

  • Visit Al Fahidi, beaches and parks early
  • Schedule outdoor walks after sunset
  • Use malls and indoor attractions during the afternoon
  • Carry water and sun protection
  • Confirm venue hours before travelling

Friday affects this itinerary because Jumeirah Mosque is closed for public visits. Ramadan, public holidays and major events can also affect attraction hours, restaurant service and public transport.

Dubai 5-Day Itinerary costs

The UAE dirham, written as AED, is Dubai’s official currency. Visit Dubai lists the dirham as pegged at AED 3.67 to US$1. Card providers and ATMs may apply their own fees.

Dubai Frame AED 50 adults; AED 20 children aged 3–12

Traditional Dubai Creek abra AED 1
Dubai Metro Silver fare AED 3, AED 5 or AED 7.50 depending on zones

Practical booking checklist

Book the following before arrival:

  • Burj Khalifa timed entry
  • The View at The Palm
  • Desert safari
  • Hotel accommodation
  • Any Marina cruise or special dining experience
  • Global Village tickets if travelling during its operating season

Keep Day 5 flexible because it can absorb weather changes, missed attractions or a Friday mosque closure. Always check the official venue page before leaving your hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is five days enough for Dubai?

Five full days are enough to experience Dubai’s main city districts, heritage areas, coast and desert. You will not see every attraction, but this itinerary covers a balanced selection without adding an Abu Dhabi day trip or a full waterpark day.

Can I follow this Dubai itinerary without renting a car?

Yes. Metro, tram and taxis are sufficient for most of the itinerary. The desert safari normally includes transfers, while Palm Jumeirah is easier by taxi because the Palm Monorail is currently shown as suspended.

What should I book first in Dubai?

Book Burj Khalifa, The View at The Palm and your desert safari first. These activities use timed or scheduled services. Also reserve your hotel early during the busy winter travel period.

What happens if my trip includes a Friday?

Jumeirah Mosque is closed for public visits on Fridays. Move that visit to Day 5 or spend more time at Al Fahidi, Deira, Jumeirah Beach and other open attractions.

Is the Museum of the Future included?

It is not included in this current plan because the official website currently lists the main museum as temporarily closed. Check its official website before future travel in case the attraction reopens.

Is Global Village open all year?

No. Global Village is a seasonal attraction. The current official schedule lists the next season from 14 October 2026 to May 2027. Do not include it in your plan if your dates fall outside the operating season.

Which area is best for staying in Dubai?

Downtown is convenient for Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, Bur Dubai and Deira suit visitors interested in Old Dubai, and Marina or JBR are better for beaches and evening walks. The best choice depends on your priorities and budget.

How much money should I budget for five days in Dubai?

There is no single reliable total because hotel rates, meals, taxis, safari packages and shopping vary widely. Use the reference attraction and transport prices above, then add your accommodation, food and activity choices.
